Dogs need socialization both with other dogs and with people as they mature. People in Roosevelt could use another place to socialize as well. For people who live in the city limits a dog park is a great opportunity to let their dog run and play in an area bigger than their small yard. It gives a place for our pets to get the exercise that they need in a constructive manner. A pond or man made stream for the dogs who like water to play in. This is also a place where people who are training dogs could go that has distractions, but is still a controlled environment. Dog obstacle courses and a covered area with seating for the owners would also be a great addition. Even having the area sectioned off into 2 sections, one for smaller dogs only and the other for all other dogs would be a benefit as well. In Boise where I’m from, people come at the same time every day to meet up with friends they’ve met there.

Why plant plants that require a lot of water? We live in a desert. Farmers need thy water more than the pots along Main Street do. Why plant desert and drought tolerant perennials? Like red yucca? Or how cool would it be to have Himalayan Cedars in the pots? Those trees are drought and cold tolerant, and would be a large bonsai. That would make our Main Street totally unique. And it would save water. There are so many other options for plants that are better suited for our desert environment. Let’s be smart about the city beautification.

I would like to see the appearance of the walking park improved. It would be really nice to have the entire path landscaped to match the rest of the park.
